We collect the following information when you use MyAfroSphere:

  • Email address — used for magic link authentication only
  • Handle (c/yourname) — your public identity on the platform
  • Posts and replies — content you voluntarily submit
  • Location — only if you grant permission during onboarding, used solely to suggest relevant communities
  • Skills and bio — only if you voluntarily add them to your profile

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to operate the platform, authenticate your account, and suggest relevant communities. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to any third party under any circumstances.

3. We Never Sell Your Data

MyAfroSphere does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. This applies to your email, location, posts, profile, and any other information you provide.

4. California Residents — CCPA/CPRA Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal data we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell data). To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@myafrosphere.com and we will respond within 45 days.

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

6. Geolocation

We request your location only during onboarding to suggest relevant communities. Your precise coordinates are never stored. We only store the city and country name you choose to share. You can skip location permission entirely with no impact on your ability to use the platform.

7. Children's Privacy

MyAfroSphere is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, contact us immediately at hello@myafrosphere.com and we will delete it.

8. Your Right to Delete

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting hello@myafrosphere.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
